Serco has been confirmed as the facilities management partner for NHS Dumfries and Galloway's 340 bed, 60,000 square metre new district general hospital. Serco will provide estate management services for the 25-year operational term providing the maintenance services for the building fabric and the engineering systems within the hospital.
What’s the job opportunity?
We are seeking two experienced and enthusiastic Site Engineers, one with a Maintenance focus and one more Technical, to take on this exciting challenge. You will be responsible for the day to day management of a discrete multi-disciplinary on-site team, supported by a range of specialist and local sub-contractors to achieve a high standard of service delivery for Serco managed estates responsibilities.
During mobilisation, the Site Engineers will participate in the witnessing, testing and commissioning of the new hospital, assist in the recruitment of the technical team, and develop compliant systems, policies and procedures in line with the Serco Management System in preparation for service delivery. They will also be responsible for the delivery of medium and high value new works.
You will be fully supported by colleagues which include Site Manager, HR, Compliance, Health and Safety and Estates Managers who currently look after our other hospital contracts in Scotland as well as a Regional Contract Director.
Who are we looking for?
•Educated to a minimum of HNC/HND level in an engineering discipline, with relevant experience and trade background working within a maintenance environment
•Experience in a similar role within a large complex service
•Commercially astute with an ability to deliver against contractual KPI requirements
•Be conversant with the workings of the mechanical, electrical and electronic systems used within N.H.S hospitals e.g. lifts, refrigeration, boiler plant air handling/conditioning fire alarm systems, communications systems, control theory, practical and application
•Ability to hold Authorised Person responsibilities relevant to their engineering discipline
•Direct line management experience of staff is essential
•Driving licence is essential
What are we offering?
The successful Site Engineer will benefit from a unique opportunity to play a key role in establishing this brand new high performing Estates Management Service. The new 340-bed, 60,000 square metre facility will transform the way care is delivered for the people of Dumfries and Galloway. Serco are working with High Wood Health, a consortium led by Laing O'Rourke that has been chosen to design, build, finance and operate the £200 million hospital. In addition, Serco are offering a competitive salary plus a generous benefits package.
Maximum salary for both posts is £32,086 per annum.
