Dumfries & Galloway College (DGC) is the Regional College in the South-West of Scotland.
DGC aims to create flexible learning approaches that suit everyone. There are two campuses, Dumfries and Stranraer that offer full and part-time study as well as online and blendied learning environments, but the College also offers vocational and work-based learning, apprenticeships, short courses and bespoke training.
The College's approach to learning is a reflection of the rural locality, the local economy and the changing patterns of lifestyles. As a major employer and a dynamic rural learning institution, the 'digital' revolution has been strongly embraced by us and its many forms are fast becoming the basis of our organisations operations and academic delivery.
The range of learning includes basic skill development to degree level (articulation links with Crichton University Campus in Dumfries) and everything in between. You are never too young and you are never too old - many 'retired' students are creating new lives for themselves.
Apart from full and part-time study we offer a range of short courses, and will also work with organisations and employers to develop bespoke courses and training to suit their specific needs and requirements.
The college sector has been recognised, by Scottish Government, as having a vital role to play to help stimulate the economic recovery through upskilling and reskilling the workforce and providing individuals with valuable employability skills as well as assisting specific economic sectors that have been particularly badly hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. As part of this role Dumfries & Galloway College is working with employers and local and national agencies to put together a range of courses and training opportunitites that will support the local ecnonmy.
