DYW Dumfries and Galloway work in parnership with employers, young people and schools as part of the Scottish Government's national strategy for strengthening links between businesses and education and better preparing children and young people for the world of work.

Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) is the Scottish Government’s national strategy for strengthening links between businesses and education and better preparing children and young people for the world of work. The headline aim of the programme is to encourage and support more employers to engage directly with schools and colleges, and encourage and enable more employers to recruit more young people and promote diversity in their workforce.

DYW aims to ensure that young people in Scotland have work relevant experience and opportunities while still at school. DYW collaborates with schools, to bring industry into the classroom, and give young people first-hand experience of the world of work.

DYW works in partnership with employers, encouraging them to play an active role in shaping Scotland's education system. Employers can then help create and educate the talent pool they need and benefit from the fresh perspective that young employees bring to the workplace.

And most of all, DYW works with young people, Scotland's future workforce, to improve their skills for their working lives and help them make informed and ambitious choices about their jobs and careers.
