Lowland Training

The training we offer includes:

Employability Fund
We are contracted through Skills Development Scotland to support unemployed people to move towards and into work. The fund can be used to help young people who have recently left school or college, returners to work, redundant workers and those actively seeking employment.

Stage 2
This is a pre-employment programme which assists learners to gain employability skills and sector specific qualifications as well as work experience.  We work across all employment sectors to meet the career aspirations of the learner and link with local employment opportunities. At this stage all learners are required to complete a work experience placement, we assist learners to source quality work experience and encourage employers to play an active part in providing meaningful placements to allow the learner to develop the skills required for work.
At this stage the main qualification we deliver is the Introduction to Workplace Skills:
The Introduction to Workplace Skills gives young people a recognisable qualification, to show employers they have relevant experience for the workplace. It supports the Scottish Government’s Opportunities for All agenda, helping young people find work, and employers find the right people.
The Introduction to Workplace Skills is designed for 16-19-year-olds but is open to anyone. It includes at least 150 hours of work experience with the employer assessing the person’s skills for the certificate – like a reference, making it something that other employers can trust.

Stage 3
This is a pre-employment programme which assists learners to gain employability skills and sector specific qualifications as well as work experience.  We work across all employment sectors to meet the career aspirations of the learner and link with local employment opportunities. At this stage all learners are required to complete a work experience placement, we assist learners to source quality work experience and encourage employers to play an active part in providing meaningful placements to allow the learner to develop the skills required for work.
At this stage the main qualification we deliver is the Certificate of Work Readiness:
The Certificate of Work Readiness (CWR) gives young people a recognisable qualification, to show employers they have relevant experience for the workplace. It supports the Scottish Government’s Opportunities for All agenda, helping young people find work, and employers find the right people.
The CWR is designed for 16-19-year-olds but is open to anyone. It includes at least 190 hours of work experience with the employer assessing the person’s skills for the certificate – like a reference, making it something that other employers can trust.

Stage 4
Learners at this stage are recognised as being ready for work but lack specific qualifications that would allow them to take advantage of employment opportunities. Qualifications are sector specific and can include:
• CSCS, Labourers Green Card
• Forklift Licence
• Personal Bar Licence
• Food Hygiene
• First Aid
• SIA Door Supervisor

Modern Apprenticeships
Modern Apprenticeships (MAs) are work based qualifications where the candidate shows competence against national standards. An MA is a job which allows individuals to earn a wage while gaining an industry-recognised qualification. Our workplace assessor will visit candidates in the workplace every 2-4 weeks to set tasks and carry out assessments, remaining available to candidates for guidance and support throughout their apprenticeships. We are contracted through Skills Development Scotland to deliver Modern Apprenticeships in Customer Service, Business & Administration, Hospitality and Management.

Individual Training Accounts
To help build the skills needed for a job or to develop further in an existing career, an Individual Training Account from Skills Development Scotland can provide £200 to fund training for eligible candidates. We currently offer ITA funded courses for Door Supervisors (SIA License) and Labourers (CSCS Green cards), as well as providing ITA application assistance.

Digital Skills
We are a member of the UK Online Centres Network, funded through Good Things Foundation, offering digital skills training to individuals with minimal to moderate ICT skills. With topics ranging from computing fundamentals to social media and online banking, our digital champions are able to provide teaching and advice, either as standalone training or incorporated into one of our other training programmes.
