Our employability skills and service team were out and about on Wednesday afternoon at the Wayside Depot in Dumfries, interviewing Mike Fawkes, service manager from the Roads Department and Callum Stewart and Ethan Johnston who were part of our Looked After Young Persons Programme.
Over the next 3 years the project will support 24 looked after young people into employment. This project recognises the employability journey that many of our looked after young people undertake on their way to paid, sustained employment and gives them the opportunity to undertake real work experience within the Council.
Both Callum and Ethan have benefited greatly from our Paid Work Experience Programme which provides 26 weeks of work experience at the minimum living wage with the council.
