Yesterday, two of our new members of staff, Melissa Irving and Luke Broadhurst, attended the CUCSA Fresher's Fair at the Easterbrook Hall, on the Crichton Campus in Dumfries. The event provided a good opportunity to promote the services offered by Dumfries and Galloway Employability Total Access Point. Luke and Melissa were able to network with a number of different partner organisations, such as Third Sector, the Holywood Trust and Dumfries and Galloway LGBT Plus.
The event was well attended, with students from first to fourth year attending, a number of whom indicated a real interest in DGTAP's services. Those studying teaching, care and social work degrees were especially keen to understand how our service works with vulnerable people and how DGTAP's referral process works. Through networking with the students and partner organisations in attendance, DGTAP has been able to increase its online exposure significantly, especially through Facebook.
The event was very worthwhile and we would recommend next years intake of students attend the event in 2017.
